Sunita Devi-Sundar Nagar

Sunita Devi, from Sundar Nagar, has a family of 6. As a mother who does menial labour for a living, her family annual income falls between 25,000-30,000 rupees. She has 4 children, who are completely dependent on her. A family with an annual medical expense of Rs.4500 for illnesses such as cold and cough, fever, stomach ache, typhoid, and vomiting. They have received 3 kits so far. An improved personal hygiene routine would significantly reduce the financial burden of medical expenses on the family.

Rashi-Bhalswa Basti

Rashi, a 11-year-old girl from Bhalswa has been subject to illnesses such colds and coughs over the past year. Her childhood is being compromised because of something as trivial, yet crucial, as personal hygiene. She loves going to school and falling sick often keeps her away from doing what she loves. Roots has been able to offer her, and her family of 5, four hygiene kits so far. This has eradicated the Rs.100 cost of spending on personal hygiene products for the family. Rashi, and many other girls like her, shouldn’t be limited to lower standards of living due to lack of personal hygiene resources; therefore, Roots has been educating communities like hers to adopt better personal hygiene practices.

Arbaz -Bhalswa Basti

Arbaz is a 11-year-old boy who has been dealing with recurring colds, coughs, and fevers throughout his childhood, due to lack of personal hygiene practices. He is the son of a rickshaw puller in a family of 6. The financial burden of medical expenses in this family is heavy given its size and daily wage income. Roots has helped cover 95% of the costs of personal hygiene products for this family by distributing 3 hygiene kits so far. Arbaz deserves the same quality of life as the rest of us, and Roots is dedicated towards making that possible for him and many others.
