We often read and hear basic sanitation is our right. But that is far from reality.
Our basic principle is to reduce, reuse, recycle the waste generated by the opulent and redistribute it to the underprivileged section of the society.
Our mission is to be a vibrant organization determined to protect the underprivileged section of the society from diseases caused due to negligence of Personal hygiene and sanitation and to reduce the mortality rate of this particular section of the society.
Our vision is to see every member of the marginalized section has access to basic hygiene tools and is aware about the importance of personal hygiene and sanitation.
The ill effects of improper personal hygiene and poor sanitation are not visible immediately. This makes people oblivious towards the existence of these issues. The ill effects are slowly manifested and impact not only the daily livelihood of a person but also the future generations. We want to alleviate this existing curse and see every member of the marginalised section have access to proper personal hygiene and sanitation. We truly believe that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind.
ROOTS was founded in March’19 to support the underprivileged with the things that lie hidden in plain sight and play an integral role in uplifting the society. Followed by the motto “one man’s trash, another man’s necessity”, we initiated the diversion of discarded waste from one industry to a segment of the population of our country that is deprived of it.
ROOTS is a non-profit organization that focuses on personal hygiene of India’s underprivileged. We not only educate them on the consequences of negligence of personal hygiene but also provide them with tools to upkeep it. We do so by collecting the discarded bathroom amenities from hotels, recycling and packaging them in our hygiene kits. Discarded bathroom amenities core products include Shampoo, Shower Gel, Lotion, Bar Soap, & Toothpaste. These products end up covering various aspects of Personal Hygiene and indirectly impacts other issues such as contaminated water & sanitation.
While working on this project for a year there were various revelations regarding such aspects as money saved per individual, medical cost saved per individual, reduction in diseases, reduction in burden on health care of India, COVID-19 protection, etc. We are confident that the work we do has a multidimensional positive impact on the lives of both individuals and communities.
